Mesa Verde National Park

there have been several fires on top of the mesa, the last was 2002

The Indians actually built their houses with blocks built out of sanstone inside the alcoves of the cliffs; they were protected from the sun and the wind. Some of the areas were 3 stories high. They farmed and hunted on top on the mesa. We climbed down and up on ladders. They climbed on little indentions in the cliffs; the homes were on both sides of the gorge, where ever there was an overhanging cliff.

Rio Grande Park in downtown Alamosa; this is where I ride my bike every day

This isn't the Rio Grande I was expecting; it's gotten smaller with time; the wet lands are perserved; yesterday, I saw 3 kids in inner tubes floating on the river; today, I saw 2 deer crossiing the river. It's a great ride
